At many Universal Orlando theme park attractions you are urged to put your belongings into ride lockers while in the attraction. What are ride lockers at Universal Orlando theme parks? Let’s take a look at them today.
What are Ride Lockers and How Much do they Cost?
Many Universal Orlando theme park rides are hazardous to loose items in your pockets. Due to high speed and tight turns, unsecured articles can easily fall out and be lost… forever!
Ride lockers are available at many attractions throughout Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. These lockers are digitally controlled and secured through a fingerprint scanner for your convenience. Lockers are situated near the main entrance to each attraction.
Most of the lockers are free of charge… for a period of time (based on current attraction wait time). The higher the current standby wait time of a ride, the longer the free rental period will last. Reference the touch screen at the rental kiosk prior to renting for that time period and how much it will cost if your rental lasts longer.
If you’ve brought items you don’t want to carry around with you and wish to rent a locker, for the day for a flat fee, there is a locker area located just outside of the Guest services area, just inside of the Universal Studios park entrance.
Which Attractions have Ride Lockers?
As previously mentioned, most attractions have lockers for your convenience. Some attractions, however, require you to remove all loose items AND you will be required to pass through metal detectors to experience the ride. These rides are:
- Dragon Challenge (Islands of Adventure) – The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (Closing September 5th, 2017)
- The Incredible Hulk Coaster (Islands of Adventure)
- Rip Ride Rockit (Universal Studios)
For the remainder of the thrill-type rides, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you utilize the lockers for loose items, but there are no metal detectors to pass through. These rides are:
Universal Studios
- Revenge of the Mummy
- Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts – The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
- Men In Black: Alien Attack
Islands of Adventure
- Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls
- Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey – The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
- Jurassic Park River Adventure
- Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges
Upon completion of your attraction experience, return to the rental kiosk corresponding to your rental until number, enter your locker number and apply the same finger used to secure the rental, and your locker will unlock.
*Remember to remove all articles from your locker. Once it closes, the unit will secure shut and items will have to be retrieved with the aid of a locker attendant.*
Who Has Liability in the Ride Lockers?
Though a rare occurrence, in the event of loss or damage to items while stored in a locker, there is liability accepted by the locker operators (shocking, right?). However, before you get excited knowing your $500 camera or $750 cell phone are going to be replaced in the event of, a limit of liability notice is placed inside of each locker unit explaining they will only accept up to $25 and the rest remains at risk (bummer huh?). Either way, it is HIGHLY UNLIKELY that anything will happen, but know that someone has your back… kinda.
At the end of the day we all want to have fun, stay safe and do our best not to lose anything we’ve brought with us. So keep an eye out for signs directing you to the nearest ride locker at a Universal Orlando theme park.
